Used For
- High cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia)
- Elevated triglyceride levels
- Reduction of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
- Increasing HDL (“good”) cholesterol
- Reducing the risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular complications in appropriate patients
How It Works
Simvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme involved in cholesterol production in the liver. This reduces the amount of cholesterol produced by the body and promotes removal of LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream.
Usage & Safety
Dosage: Take only as prescribed by a healthcare professional. The dose depends on cholesterol levels, medical history, and response to treatment.
Side Effects: Some people may experience headache, digestive discomfort, nausea, or muscle pain. Severe or persistent muscle pain, weakness, or unusual dark urine should be reported to a doctor promptly.
Drug Interactions: Simvastatin can interact with certain antibiotics, antifungal medicines, other cholesterol-lowering medicines, and some other drugs. Inform your healthcare professional about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
Indications
Simvazat® may be prescribed for the management of high cholesterol and mixed lipid disorders, particularly when lifestyle measures alone are not sufficient.
When Not to Use
It should not be used in patients with active liver disease, unexplained persistent elevations of liver enzymes, or known hypersensitivity to simvastatin or its ingredients. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions
Regular medical monitoring may be recommended during treatment. Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver problems, kidney problems, or unexplained muscle disorders.
Warnings
Seek medical advice if you develop severe muscle pain or weakness, particularly when accompanied by fever or dark-colored urine. Avoid excessive grapefruit or grapefruit juice unless your healthcare professional confirms it is appropriate.
Pregnancy

🎯 Uses / Indications:
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) — treats symptoms of an enlarged prostate
- Helps relieve urinary symptoms such as:
- Difficulty in starting urination
- Weak urine stream
- Frequent urination (especially at night)
- Urgency and incomplete bladder emptying
- Sometimes used to help pass kidney stones (ureteral stones)
⚙️ Mechanism of Action:
Tamsulosin relaxes the smooth muscles of the prostate and bladder neck, making it easier to urinate and improving urine flow.💡 Dosage (General):
- 1 capsule (0.4 mg) once daily, taken about 30 minutes after the same meal each day
- Swallow whole — do not crush, chew, or open the capsule
