# **Izmepra Capsules (Esomeprazole)** ## **Common Uses** Izmepra contains **Esomeprazole**, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the production of stomach acid. It is used in the treatment and management of various acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including: * **Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD):** Relieves symptoms such as heartburn and acid reflux while promoting the healing of erosive esophagitis. * **Gastric and Duodenal Ulcers:** Used for the treatment and prevention of ulcers, including those associated with *Helicobacter pylori* infection (in combination with appropriate antibiotics) and ulcers caused by prolonged NSAID use. * **Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome:** Helps control excessive gastric acid secretion in patients with this rare condition. --- ## **How It Works** Esomeprazole works by blocking the **proton pumps** in the stomach lining that produce acid.
