How It Works

Clomiphene Citrate works by stimulating the pituitary gland in the brain to release increased levels of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH). These hormones help promote the development of ovarian follicles and support the process of ovulation.

Usage & Safety

Dosage

Treatment should be started with the lowest effective dose, usually 50 mg once daily (1 tablet) for 5 days. The dose may be increased only for patients who do not respond to the initial 50 mg cycle. Dose adjustments should only be made under the guidance of a doctor or healthcare professional.

Side Effects

Possible side effects may include fever, tinnitus, weakness, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, swelling (edema), high blood pressure, palpitations, phlebitis, pulmonary embolism, shortness of breath, tachycardia, thrombophlebitis, migraine, numbness or tingling sensations, seizures, stroke, fainting, acne, allergic reactions, skin redness, erythema multiforme, erythema nodosum, excessive hair growth, itching, hives, joint pain, back pain, muscle pain, and other rare developmental abnormalities affecting the limbs, feet, spine, and joints.

Drug Interactions

Clomiphene may interact with medicines such as Danazol and Oestradiol. Always inform your doctor about all medicines you are currently using.

Indications

Clomiphene Citrate is used for the treatment of certain types of infertility in women who have difficulty ovulating or do not ovulate regularly.

When Not to Use

Clomiphene should not be used in patients who are allergic or hypersensitive to Clomiphene Citrate or any of its ingredients. It is also contraindicated in patients with liver disease or a history of liver problems.

Precautions

Clomiphene Citrate should not be used during pregnancy, as it does not provide any benefit and may pose risks to the developing baby. Use this medicine only under medical supervision.

Warnings

Patients should be aware that temporary visual disturbances, such as blurred vision, spots, or flashes of light, may occur during treatment. These symptoms usually improve within days or weeks after stopping the medication. Clomiphene therapy may also increase the risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), a condition that can occur during ovulation induction and requires medical attention if symptoms appear.

Pregnancy

Always consult your doctor before using any medicine during pregnancy or while trying to conceive.
