Used For
Clexane 40mg Injection (0.4ml) is an anticoagulant medicine used to prevent and treat harmful blood clots. It is commonly used to reduce the risk of blood clots in the veins, including
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and
Pulmonary Embolism (PE).
How It Works
Clexane contains
Enoxaparin Sodium, a low-molecular-weight heparin. It works by reducing the blood's ability to form clots, helping prevent existing clots from becoming larger and reducing the formation of new clots.
Usage & Safety (Dosage, Side Effects, Drug Interactions)
Use Clexane only as prescribed by your doctor. The dose and duration depend on the condition being treated and the patient's medical history. Common side effects may include
bleeding, bruising, pain or irritation at the injection site, and anemia. Inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking, especially other anticoagulants, antiplatelet medicines, or medicines that may increase the risk of bleeding.
Indications
- Prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
- Prevention of Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
- Treatment of certain blood clotting conditions
- Prevention of blood clots following surgery or during periods of reduced mobility
When Not to Use
Do not use Clexane if you have an active major bleeding condition, a known allergy to enoxaparin or heparin, or certain conditions that significantly increase the risk of bleeding, unless specifically advised by your doctor.
Precautions
Use Clexane with caution in patients with a history of bleeding disorders, kidney problems, stomach ulcers, or low platelet counts. Tell your doctor if you are taking any medicines that affect blood clotting.
Warnings
Clexane may increase the risk of serious bleeding. Seek medical attention if you experience unusual or persistent bleeding, blood in urine or stools, severe weakness, or unexplained extensive bruising. If you are scheduled to receive a
spinal or epidural anaesthetic, inform your doctor that you are using Clexane, as special precautions may be required.
